The coach of the U20 national team of Serbia and assistant coach of the A team, Marko Marinovic, better known as Malina, referred to the performance of the young “eagles” at the recently concluded European Championship, in which Serbia took fourth place. Although the final was not achievable this time, Marinovic points out that high standards have been set and that exceptional work has been done at all levels.
“I am extremely pleased with the success achieved. The guys were disciplined from day one, with excellent approach and focus. The ease of cooperation and dedication brought the result,” said Marinovic, recalling the fact that for most players this was the debut in the finals of major competitions.
Considering that the composition of the team has changed greatly compared to the previous Eurobasket, Marinovic underlined that there is no room for excuses, but that it is important to look at the reality - only three players had previous experience from the championship.
Despite the challenges, the team has shown character and the expert staff remains unique and committed to the same goals. Marinovic points out that support should not be taken for granted and that success requires continuity:
“The lack of support in the stands is extremely felt. I went to Australia so I could do this job. Nevertheless, I would always give everything for Serbia, and I will be forever grateful to the national team — this is my greatest honor!”
In the end, with the firm conviction that the team is being built gradually and with consistency, Marinovic once again emphasized the fighting spirit that does not subside:“The expert staff is here and we are all fighting to the end,” Malina said.
We congratulate our founder on a great result as well as on his tremendous commitment to working with young people and for the strong message he sends — both as a coach and as a leader.
